Principal
KANA MINEGESHI
Kana began her ballet training at Reiko Yamamoto Ballet School in Japan, then furthered her training at Elmhurst School for Dance, which is in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, in UK. While at the Elmhurst, she danced in Peter Wright’s Coppélia as Swanilda, Frederick Ashton’s Rhapsody pas de deux. She also won the 1st prize at the All Japan Ballet Competition sponsored by Tokyo Newspaper and Saitama All Japan Ballet Competition in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Kana then joined the Atlantic City Ballet from 2011 to 2015, where she performed in various productions including principal roles. She returned to Japan in 2015 and joined the Reiko Yamamoto Ballet Company and has performed in many classical and contemporary pieces.
Kana joined Singapore Ballet as an Artist in October 2016. Kana was promoted to Demi-Soloist in 2020, Soloist in 2022 and Principal in 2026.
Her repertoire highlights include the principal roles of Cinderella in Cinderella, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Odette / Odile in Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Dew Drop and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Princess Florine in Sleeping Beauty.
She has performed Choo-San Goh’s works in the Company repertoire such as principal couple of Double Contrasts, Glow of the Night, Momentum, and other works such as Fives, Schubert Symphony, Variations Sérieuses, Unknown Territory.
She has also performed neoclassical and contemporary works including new creations for Singapore Ballet including Incomparable Beauty by Ma Cong The Persistence of Memory, After Happy Ever by Alice Top, Reflection by Paul Knobloch, Piano Concerto No.2, Opus 102 by Edmund Stripe, Terra, 4seasons by Natalie Weir, SYNC, ZIN!, Purcell Pieces by Nils Christe, Rite of Spring by Kinsun Chan, 13th Heaven, Opus 25, Age of Innocence by Edwaard Liang, Evening Voices, Quiver, Without You by Tim Rushton, Blue Snow, Unexpected B by Toru Shimazaki, Linea Adora, Protecting Veil by Timothy Harbor, The Third Reset, Pact of Water by Christina Chan, Faux Contact by Etienne Ferrer, The Four Temperaments, Theme and Variations, Serenade by George Balanchine.
