What is Ballet Associates Course (BAC)?

The Ballet Associates Course (BAC) is Singapore Ballet’s elite training program designed to nurture and develop the next generation of talented young dancers. This course offers students the opportunity to train with the company’s esteemed instructors, gaining exposure to professional-level ballet techniques and performance skills.

BAC is ideal for passionate and dedicated dancers who wish to pursue ballet at a higher level. The program is structured to enhance technical ability, artistic expression, and stage presence. Whether you aspire to join professional ballet companies or simply wish to refine your skills, BAC provides an immersive experience that cultivates discipline, artistry, and a deep appreciation for ballet as an art form.

Participants of BAC also get the exclusive chance to perform in selected Singapore Ballet productions and events, offering invaluable performance experience and the opportunity to be mentored by some of the best ballet professionals in the region.

Age Group: 10 – 12 years 
Fee: $350 (inclusive of GST) 
Prerequisite: Basic foundation in ballet technique 
Class Duration: 1 hour and 45 minutes (10:30 AM – 12:15 PM)

Age Group: 13 years and above 
Fee: $550 (inclusive of GST) 
Prerequisite: Intermediate ballet technique with pointe work experience 
Class Duration: 3 hours (12:30 PM – 3:30 PM)

Attendance Policy: 
Students must attend at least 90% of the scheduled classes to qualify for a Certificate of Participation. Those who meet the attendance requirement may be considered for children’s roles in Singapore Ballet (SB) performances when opportunities arise. Failure to meet the attendance criteria may result in loss of entitlements or discontinuation of participation at SB’s discretion. 

Absence Notification: 
If a student is unable to attend a class, they must inform SB in advance by emailing classes@singaporeballet.org. 

Medical Absences: 
For absences due to medical reasons, students must provide a medical certificate by emailing it to classes@singaporeballet.org during the next class.

Enrollment and Registration 

  • Enrollment in the Ballet Associates Course (BAC) is open to students who meet the age and ballet technique requirements for BAC 1 or BAC 2. 
  • Registration is considered complete only after the registration form has been fully filled out and payment has been made. 
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to reject an application if the student does not meet the course requirements. 
  1. Course Fees
  • The course fees for BAC 1 are $350 (inclusive of GST), and for BAC 2, the fees are $550 (inclusive of GST). 
  • All fees must be paid in full at the time of registration to confirm the student’s place in the course. 
  • Fees are non-transferable between students or other programs. 
  1. Payment Methods
  • Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or PayNow. Payment details will be provided upon registration. 
  • If paying by bank transfer or PayNow, students must email proof of payment to classes@singaporeballet.org. 
  1. Attendance Requirements
  • Students must maintain at least 90% attendance throughout the course to be eligible for a Certificate of Participation. 
  • Failure to meet the attendance requirements may result in the loss of entitlement to certificates or participation in certain course activities. 
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to withdraw or discontinue a student’s participation if attendance falls below the required level or other participation criteria are not met. 
  1. Absenteeism and Medical Certificates
  • If a student is unable to attend a class, they must inform Singapore Ballet in advance via email at classes@singaporeballet.org. 
  • For medical absences, a valid medical certificate must be provided by email before the next class. 
  • Absences due to personal or medical reasons will not be refunded or credited towards future classes. 
  1. Refund and Withdrawal Policy
  • Course fees are non-refundable once the program has started, except in the case of a serious medical condition that prevents the student from continuing, and upon submission of a certified medical document. 
  • Withdrawal requests must be made in writing to classes@singaporeballet.org. Partial refunds may be considered if the withdrawal is due to a documented medical condition and is submitted before the halfway point of the course. 
  1. Class Scheduling
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or combine classes due to unforeseen circumstances, low enrollment, or other valid reasons. In the case of a class cancellation, efforts will be made to provide makeup classes. 
  • If a scheduled class cannot proceed due to reasons beyond Singapore Ballet’s control (e.g., natural disasters, government restrictions), no refunds will be issued, and makeup classes may not be guaranteed. 
  1. Pointe Work for BAC 2
  • Students enrolling in BAC 2 are required to have prior experience in pointe work and an intermediate level of ballet technique. 
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to assess the student’s pointe work ability and may advise alternative options if the student is not at the required skill level. 
  1. Performance Opportunities
  • Students who meet the attendance and participation criteria may be considered for children’s roles in Singapore Ballet performances. Selection for performances is at the discretion of Singapore Ballet and not guaranteed. 
  • Students chosen for performances must adhere to additional rehearsal schedules, costume fittings, and performance requirements. 
  1. Safety and Liability
  • Singapore Ballet takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of students during classes. However, Singapore Ballet is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, or loss of personal property during the course. 
  • Students and their guardians acknowledge and accept the physical demands of ballet training and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation. 
  1. Photographs and Videos
  • By enrolling in BAC, students and their guardians grant Singapore Ballet permission to photograph and/or video record the students during classes and performances. These materials may be used for promotional purposes in print and digital formats, including social media and marketing. 

The BAC is an elite training program offered by Singapore Ballet, designed to develop the next generation of dancers. It provides rigorous ballet training and performance opportunities for passionate and talented young dancers. 

BAC 1 is for students aged 10–12 years old, and BAC 2 is for students aged 13 and above. BAC 2 students should have an intermediate level of ballet technique and pointe work experience. 

To register, please complete the online registration form on our website and submit the required payment. Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with further details.

Yes, pointe work experience is required for students enrolling in BAC 2. Students must have reached an intermediate level in ballet technique.
Yes, students who meet the attendance and performance criteria may be considered for children’s roles in Singapore Ballet’s productions when such opportunities arise.
