Adult Dance Class – Beginners 1
This 8 week class with a progressive syllabus is suitable for adults who have no prior knowledge of ballet. The Beginners class aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge of basic ballet technique which will enable them to proceed on to other levels after the 8 classes. Students will learn basic ballet terminology and basic movement for barre exercises.
- Registration opens 2 weeks earlier, on a Friday at 5pm, before the class commences.
- Due to a limited number of slots available, please only enroll if you can commit to 8-week lesson.
- Payment details will be sent after you have successfully registered. Confirmation will be done via email.
- There is no wait list for Beginners 1.
- Any overseas bank charges will be borne by the applicant, and not SB.
- Applicants are considered successfully enrolled only after payment has been received.
- The 8 and 16 class cards are NOT valid for Beginners 1. These cards can only be used for Beginners 2 and Level 1 – 3 classes only.
- All students are to sign the General Release of Injury Liability Form. You may print in advance and submit a signed hardcopy at our customer service counter before your first class, or collect a copy at our customer service counter.
- Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed into the studios due to safety reasons.

Q: Am I too old to start ballet?
A: Definitely not, especially if you are physically able and willing to give it a try! Our classes cater to adults and working professionals with an age range of 20s to 40s. Kindly note that only adults aged 16 and above are permitted to join the Adult Dance Class.
Q: How long is a class?
A: Each class is 90 minutes long.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Anything simple and comfortable! As a simple guide, ladies can consider a simple leotard and a pair of tights or leggings, and men can consider a t-shirt and shorts or sweat pants.
Q: What footwear is appropriate?
A: Ballet shoes or socks work perfectly fine. You may purchase ballet shoes from Sonata Dancewear.
Q: What if I can’t attend a particular class?
A: Beginners I classes are scheduled in a fixed 8-week term to allow the amateur adult ballet dancer understand the technicality and fundamentals of classical ballet. There will not be any makeup classes or refunds if you have to miss a particular class.
