KWOK MIN YI
Principal

Min Yi trained at Singapore Ballet Academy and received the SBA Scholarship in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, she was a finalist in the Adeline Genée International Ballet Competition and was awarded the National Arts Council (Overseas) Arts Scholarship to train at English National Ballet School in London. As a student, Min Yi performed in Singapore Dance Theatre’s productions of The Nutcracker, Giselle, La Sylphide and Cinderella. She also performed with The Royal Ballet in Swan Lake (2005) and The Washington Ballet in The Nutcracker (2007). In 2012, she toured and performed with English National Ballet II’s premiere of My First Sleeping Beauty in the United Kingdom.

Min Yi joined SDT as an apprentice in November 2012. She was promoted to Artist in January 2014 and Soloist in 2019. Her repertoire highlights include Juliet and Fate in Romeo and Juliet, Odette and Odile in Swan Lake, Kitri and Kitri’s bridesmaid in Don Quixote, Theme and Variations, Waltz Girl in Serenade, Raymonda Divertissements, Flower Festival in Genzano, Paquita pas de trios, Peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Snow Queen and Chinese Flowers in The Nutcracker and Dawn in Coppélia.

She has taken on featured roles in Momentum, Double Contrasts, Linea Adora, Sync, Organ Concerto, The Four Temperaments and Midnight Waltz. She has also performed in Rubies, Concerto Barocco, Divertimento No. 15, Fives, Unknown Territory, Schubert Symphony, Beginnings, Symphony in Three Movements, Zin!, Incomparable Beauty, Shadow’s Edge, Another Energy, Blue Snow, Evening Voices, Triptych, Opus 25, Quiver, Ibsen’s House, Bournville Divertissements– Folk Tale pas de sept, La Ventana and Tarentella as well as the Peter and Blue children’s ballet series.

Min Yi was promoted to Principal in January 2020.
