His first full-length ballet, The Crane Whisperer, premiered at the National Ballet of China and showcased his unique ability to merge Eastern and Western sensibilities. Now leading Richmond Ballet, Ma brings passion and innovation, championing a repertoire that bridges classical tradition with contemporary vision.

Known for blending classical ballet with modern dance, Rushton received four Reumert Prizes and collaborated across artistic disciplines. Under his leadership, the company toured internationally. He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to dance and is listed in Kraks Blå Bog, the Danish Who’s Who.
