Akira Wolfie Bischoff

Akira began his training at Western Ballet Theatre with Nana Badrena before continuing his studies with Beth McLeish at Project Ballet. He later attended the School of American Ballet as a recipient of the Jerome Robbins Foundation Scholarship. He subsequently received a full scholarship to the San Francisco Ballet School, where he completed his training under Patrick Armand and his primary teacher, Pascal Molat.

Akira began his professional career as an apprentice with Grand Rapids Ballet under Artistic Director James Sofranko. He later performed with United Ballet Theatre and Ballet RI before joining Nevada Ballet Theatre under Artistic Director Roy Kaiser.

His repertory includes featured roles in Jiří Kylián’s Sarabande (3rd Solo Dancer); James Sofranko’s Mozart Symphony; George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes (Men’s Regiment); George Birkadze’s rearrangement of La Bayadère (Solar); Marius Petipa’s The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Cavalier); Ben Stevenson’s Dracula (Frederick) and Swan Lake (Pas de trois); the Carousel Waltz from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel (the Carnival Boy); Septime Webre’s The Wizard of Oz (Tinman); Kinsun Chan’s Sticks and Stones; the Mandolin Dance from Choo San Goh’s Romeo and Juliet; Ma Cong’s Shadow’s Edge; and Choo San Goh’s Fives.

Akira joined Singapore Ballet as an Artist in July 2024.
