What is Behind-the-Scenes (BTS)? 

The Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) program by Singapore Ballet offers a rare and exclusive opportunity to step into the world of professional ballet. This unique experience takes you backstage, where you’ll get an insider’s look at how a ballet production comes to life. From the rigorous daily training of dancers to the intricate details of costume and set design, BTS gives participants a first-hand glimpse into the artistry and hard work that happens beyond the stage. 

Held at Singapore Ballet’s premises, the BTS offers a guided tour of the company, opportunity to watch live rehearsals as well as engage in meaningful conversations with our ballet professionals.

BTS is an enriching experience that brings you closer to the heart of ballet and offers a deeper appreciation of the discipline, dedication, and collaboration involved in this timeless art form.

Primary, Secondary, Junior College, ITE, Polytechnic students, and working adults (corporate groups) 

Group Size: 
20 – 30 participants (Minimum: 15 participants per tour) 

Duration: 
60 minutes 

Fees: 
$15 per participant (excluding GST) 
This programme qualifies for the Tote Board Arts Grant Subsidy. 

  1. Eligibility
  • The BTS program is open to students from Primary, Secondary, Junior College, ITE, Polytechnic institutions, and corporate groups. Minimum group size is 15 participants, with a maximum of 30 participants per tour. 
  1. Booking and Confirmation
  • All bookings must be made in advance through outreach@singaporeballet.org. 
  • A booking is confirmed only after Singapore Ballet has sent a written confirmation of the date, time, and group details. 
  • All bookings are subject to availability and Singapore Ballet’s schedule. 
  1. Fees and Payment
  • The fee for the BTS program is $15 per participant (excluding GST). 
  • Payment must be made in full at least 14 days prior to the scheduled tour date unless otherwise agreed. 
  • For schools eligible for the Tote Board Arts Grant Subsidy, the appropriate subsidy documentation must be submitted during the registration process. 
  1. Cancellation and Rescheduling
  • Schools and organizations must notify Singapore Ballet in writing of any cancellations or rescheduling requests at least 14 days prior to the scheduled tour date. 
  • Cancellations made within 14 days of the tour date will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the total cost. 
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to changes in production schedules or safety concerns. Every effort will be made to accommodate an alternative date. 
  1. Group Size and Attendance
  • The minimum group size for a BTS tour is 15 participants. If the group size is less than 15 on the day of the tour, the group will be charged for the minimum number of 15 participants. 
  • The maximum number of participants is 30 per tour. Groups larger than 30 will need to book additional tours. 
  • Schools and organizations are responsible for ensuring that students or participants are supervised during the BTS tour. 
  1. Tour Guidelines and Safety
  • Participants are expected to follow all safety instructions and guidelines provided by Singapore Ballet staff during the tour. 
  • Participants must remain with their assigned group at all times. 
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to stop or cancel the tour if the behavior of participants compromises the safety or quality of the experience. 
  • For the safety of the dancers and staff, no backstage access will be permitted without explicit guidance from the Singapore Ballet team. 
  1. Photography and Recording
  • No photography, video, or audio recording is permitted during the BTS tour unless prior permission has been granted by Singapore Ballet. 
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to take photographs or videos of the tour for promotional purposes. Schools and organizations must notify Singapore Ballet if any participants are not allowed to be photographed or filmed. 
  1. Changes to the Program
  • Singapore Ballet reserves the right to alter or modify the content and format of the BTS program as necessary. Any significant changes will be communicated to the participating group in advance. 
  1. Limitation of Liability
  • Singapore Ballet is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, or loss of personal property during the BTS tour. 
  • Participants and their guardians acknowledge that they participate at their own risk.

The BTS tour takes place at Singapore Ballet’s facilities, where participants will be guided through various sections of the production process, from rehearsal studios to costume departments.

No, photography, video, or audio recording is not allowed during the tour unless explicit permission is granted by Singapore Ballet. If you would like to take photographs, please inquire before the tour.
