MARINA YATSUSHIRO
Artist
Marina started her ballet training at Mie Hatanaka Ballet Studio and Ballet Studio Mine in Japan. She then furthered her dance training at the Royal Ballet School at White Lodge and attended the Colorado Ballet Academy summer school. In 2010, Marina graduated from Elmhurst School for Dance with a National Diploma in Professional Dance.
During her training at the Elmhurst School for Dance, Marina performed in various productions including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Swan Lake and Coppélia. In 2003, she won the first prize at the Japan Grand Prix and the following year was 2nd runner-up at the Saitama Dance Competition.
Marina joined SDT in October 2010 as an apprentice and was promoted to Artist in November 2012. Her repertoire highlights include the role of Juliet’s friends in Romeo and Juliet (2020), Cygnets (2015, 2019) and Princesses (2019) in Swan Lake and the Chinese Flowers in The Nutcracker (2013, 2016); she also danced in Sleeping Beauty, Romeo & Juliet, Coppélia, Giselle, and Don Quixote. She also danced in Bournonville Divertissements, La Ventana, Tarantella, Double Contrasts, Schubert Symphony, Piano Concerto No. 2 Opus 102, Opus 25, Concerto Barocco, Theme and Variations, Divertimento No. 15, Allegro Brillante, Serenade, Bliss, Peter & Blue, Paquita, Blue Snow, Another Energy, Linea Adora, The Four Temperaments, Midnight Waltzes and Quiver.
